Like gratitude, gold goes with everything. The neutral color fits in with any palette, and makes any tablescape feel extra-special. We sprinkled a little gold dust over this Thanksgiving table with some gilded ideas that would work with any holiday decor.
Here are some ways to bring some shine to your Thanksgiving table:
–Add a metallic paper runner down the center
–Use gold-rimmed china or gold-toned flatware
–Spray paint a few leaves, acorns, gourds or other items to add to your centerpiece
–Cut leaf confetti out of gold paper and scatter it down the center of your table (Download our Leaf Template here, print, and cut out.)
–Work gold foil-wrapped candies into decor, placesettings, or favors
–Add gold napkins—paper or linen
Gold foil chocolates dress up the table, whether you place them in a bowl, or use glue dots to attach a few into acorn tops and adhere them to a branch as decor. Make one for each place, or stick to one or two as a centerpiece.
Place branches of fall leaves in a gold vase to tie it in with the rest of the decor. Mixed with pink-dyed bunnytail grass, this arrangement—which could be made smaller to serve as a centerpiece—will last well into the holidays.
Candy favor bags, dressed up to look like ears of golden corn, double as decor. Add a tag with each guest’s name and they’re placecards, too! (See how we made them here)
The easiest way to create cohesive decor, whether it’s a centerpiece, mantel decor, or any place you want to look festive is to gather a grouping of items in a single color palette. Gold not only makes everything look celebratory, it’s also easy to find gilded objects—or grab a can of spray paint and some pine cones and dried corn and get ready to, as I like to say, GIY (Gild It Yourself).
Gold paint pens make decorating easy, whether you’re making place cards or table numbers. For these, I used burgundy-colored card stock and a gold paint pen to draw a “frame” of roses and branches, with the number in the middle.
