Darcy Miller, Darcy Miller Designs, Halloween

These DIY paper favor bags for Halloween are each embellished with a friendly face. They’re a fun craft for kids to do together at a Halloween or birthday party. And making them is as simple as cutting the top of a paper bag and adding some features with a marker or cut-out pieces of construction paper. You can make them ahead of time to give as favors, or hand to trick or treaters. Add a name to each bag and they become placecards too!

All you need are paper favor bags, scissors, markers, and, depending on your design, construction paper and glue. Plus, of course, candy, games, crafting supplies or some other treat to fill the friendly faces! Draw a ghost face on white bags with black marker, white and pink markers to create a kitty face on a black bag, and construction paper features to turn brown bags into owls or green ones into monsters.

We opted for spooky ghosts, cute black kitties, adorable owls, and a frowning Frankenstein, but you could add any face you like. You might add Jack O’Lantern features to an orange back and cut the top in a curve to make a Halloween pumpkin. Or, cut a black bag into a middle point for a witch’s hat, or add triangles to gold one to make a crown for a prince or princess.

Then fill your new friend with candy and have a sweet Halloween!
